ترتبط الولايات المتحدة الامريكية بعلاقات متعددة مع العالم وقد شهدت هذه العلاقات تطوراً مهماً منذ سنوات الحرب العالمية الثانية على نحو خاص . وتأكيدا لاهمية تلك العلاقات فقد اهتم عدد من الباحثين بدراستها وتأتي هذه الدراسة في سياق ذلك الاهتمام ايضاً، اما اختيار النفط كعامل رئيس في العلاقات الخارجية الامريكية موضوعاً لهذا البحث فيرجع الى عدم تناولها في بحث اكاديمي مستقل حسب علمنا ، فضلاً عن اهمية هذا العامل في هذه المرحلة في العلاقات الخارجية لامريكا .
